The funding is through the Transform programme, inspired by the 2012 Olympics.

We plan to talk to as many residents who live near the site as possible, as well as to those who work at or use the nearby nursery and people who walk past the site every day. Children play on the grass, walk on the wall (which does need mending), and should continue to enjoy the site. We’d like to include some food growing, perhaps fruit, nuts, herbs…It’s going to be important, and exciting, to involve local people both in making plans for the site, and in the planting and maintenance.

If you live near the site, please tell your neighbours about the project.

There will be a preliminary meeting to look at the site and discuss plans for the project, and to meet a representative each from Waltham Forest Council and Groundwork, who are supporting us:

Monday 22nd August, 7 pm
Corner Wallwood Road and King’s Passage

Refreshments will be provided

If it rains, we’ll go to my house nearby

Please let me know if you are able to come, to give me an idea of numbers in case it does rain.

I’m very sorry about the short notice. If you are not able to come, please let me know if you’d like to be involved.

Diana Korchien writes:

I had the privilege of hearing Stoneleigh (aka Nicole Foss) at the 2010 Transition Conference. She spoke with exceptional clarity about the intricate relationship between peak oil, peak energy, peak everything, financial markets and our future security. Throughout her 80 minute illustrated presentation she remained resolutely upbeat. Afterwards, many seasoned Transitioners needed smelling salts…

More than 12 months on, she is back in the UK to speak to us specifically on how the ongoing financial meltdown will impact on us here. And to offer some solutions. Not to be missed. A free talk, followed by questions and discussion. Donations welcome.
